How the work visa usually works
Japan's Specified Skilled Worker (SSW) status lets workers take jobs in listed sectors after passing a skills test and a Japanese language test (JFT-Basic or JLPT). The employer usually obtains a Certificate of Eligibility from the Immigration Services Agency, after which the worker applies for the visa at the Japanese embassy.
